Five of the Best from the EDM Maverick

Having been Unearthed by Triple J when he was only eleven, Rhys Toms AKA BLACK SUMMER has already established himself as a producer with some serious chops, but with the new album Channel Horror, he’s taken it to an entirely new level. SENSE asked him for five pieces of art that have blown his mind…

Pulp Fiction

Pulp Fiction is one of my favourite movies of all time next to The Matrix and Interstellar. I love the way this movie flows and the story telling, leaving a lot of unanswered left for the viewer to piece together. It's funny as hell and symbolic too which I find as a cool contrast to have in a movie.

H.P. Lovecraft

H.P. Lovecraft is a storyteller of cosmic, incomprehensible horror. I got so obsessed with the universe he created and all the different gods. Something about the idea of there being something so big and unfathomable that it would drive you insane if you tried to understand it always stood out as something so intriguing to me. It taps into a philosophy that I love. I highly recommend checking out all the different gods he's written about!

John Cameron

John Cameron is a musician that I listen to almost every day. His music is so calming and alluring, and I love the uneasy but comforting atmosphere his music creates. His sound is so old, but also so timeless.

The Voynich Manuscript

The Voynich Manuscript has been something that has always had me obsessed. It’s a book that nobody can read, a book that nobody can even figure out what the illustrations are even though it’s as old as the 15th century. There's something really fascinating to me about this book because it wasn't made to be figured out, it was just created and left for us to find and stare at in confusion for probably thousands of years to come.

Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso’s cubism paintings are something I’ve loved since I was a kid. I’ve always loved abstract art and used to always paint my own cubism pieces when I was a kid. His cubism is something I think everyone should see if they haven’t yet.

BLACK SUMMER’s new album Channel Horror is out December 12th.
