Keijo Picks The Kings Of Grind

Cramming eighteen songs into about twenty minutes, if you clicked on this article you probably already know what to expect from Apocalypse, the latest onslaught from Finnish grindcore warriors ROTTEN SOUND. In between talking about grind goats and what he’d do if he woke up with a dead prostitute in his room (yes, really), he took us through his three favourite frontmen in the genre.

Barney Greenway – NAPALM DEATH

“Barney’s one of them for sure. I really love his rants between the songs, and he’s saying important things. So he’s one of them … He’s talking a lot, but it’s working really well for him, especially with his accent and everything, so it’s always entertaining, and it’s always funny …”

Mieszko Talarczyk – NASUM

“Then I have to pick Mieszko, because he was super, super talented with his vocals and arrangements. When I did the NASUM tour, I was struggling to kind of follow him, and he was also playing guitar while he did that, so [doffs his hat] I have to do this for that guy, rest in peace Mieszko.”

Avi Kulawy – MAGRUDERGRIND

“Third one … who could it be? Well, I did really enjoy MAGRUDERGRIND, and Avi. When we were doing some tours together, he was always trying to make me jump too [laughs] because he’s jumping more, but I’m like, “It’s not my thing really!” It was always entertaining to watch them.

So yeah, I pick those three today, but it’s like, I’ve probably missed a couple of other ones. But, I mean, Barney … [NAPALM DEATH] are the leaders really. They kept on doing it, and I’m really happy to see that NAPALM is still going strong.”

Apocalypse is out March 31st on Seasons of Mist. Check out the full interview BELOW.
