Single Review - REFLEKTA - “I’ll Follow”

Leaders, Not Followers

REFLEKTA’s latest single I’ll Follow channels the spirit of OASIS, NIRVANA, NEW ORDER, and THE STONE ROSES without ever slipping into imitation. There’s a clear Brit-rock lineage in the DNA, but the band wear it confidently rather than nostalgically. When I mentioned to vocalist Paul Strutt that it carried shades of NEW ORDER’s Crystal, it sparked an immediate connection; that shimmering, indelible riff is undeniably present. Funnily enough after I had mentioned that comparison to Paul we both unknowingly had Get Ready on repeat for a week straight, but I digress.

The track opens with echoing drums and chiming guitars before emotionally urgent vocals cut through; sustained and delivered with a conviction that balances grit and vulnerability right before we’re sonically punched by the guitars growing heavier. There’s a subtle STONE ROSES nod woven in, flashes of grunge texture, and genuinely strong, catchy guitar work throughout with the drums pulling the track together perfectly. Just when you think it’s winding down around the five-minute mark, the chorus crashes back in and builds again, finishing on that classic, ringing guitar line.

What sets REFLEKTA apart is their unmistakable Aussie edge and ability to make the sound their own. A slight twang in the vocal, grit in the delivery, and weighty guitars keep the track grounded in the present. I’ll Follow feels nostalgic in texture but fiercely current in execution. Polished yet punchy, melodic without losing its bite, a band confidently carving out their own space within a lineage they clearly respect.

What’s impressive is that REFLEKTA are still emerging, yet they’re already pulling in thousands of streams on last year’s singles Ricky Polly and What It Means. That momentum feels earned. They have the swagger of classic Brit-rock, the punch of modern grunge, and the hunger of a band determined to put proper rock back on the map. With their debut album set for release in June, this is absolutely a band to watch and one I’ll be keeping close to my playlists (and putting my dad onto immediately!).

I’ll Follow is set for release on 13/02 with REFLEKTA locking in shows for their debut album, be sure to follow their socials to find out when they’re coming to a venue near you.
